The proposal for the Kaohsiung Music Center is to create a dynamic, driving complex for the learning, expression, display and performance of music. The center is a series of flowing venues each dedicated to a facet of the creation and learning of music. The spaces, while connected linearly are never-the-less high controlled acoustically so that a performance, lesson or workshop is not disturbed or interrupted by adjacent activities.

The complex of spaces stretches along an under-utilized stretch of waterfront bring much needed life and energy to this area of the city. The project terminates at a dramatic tower, beckoning the city and announcing its continued presence as a beacon of artistic light.
