Only 10% of ME construction industry using BIM
Around one tenth of the region’s construction professionals are using Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, according to specialist consultant BIMES.
Speaking to Middle East Architect, general manager BIMES ME, Daniel Pinheiro, said: ”I reckon the figure is around 10%, and that’s being optimistic.”
Pinheiro suggested that the number of users that are properly utilising the 3D software could be even lower. “We see a lot of people that have BIM tools, such as Revit and Archicad, but they are not actually using them extensively.
Dr Ahmed Elkady, managing director of NAGA Architects agreed. “Our office switched to BIM in 2008. We believe that the software has revolutionised the way that a team can work on a project,” he said.
