Sorouh Competition

The challenge presented for the competition for the Sorouh Development was to design a pedestrian space that engages the surrounding residential community and connects the various activity nodes in a dynamic and meaningful way.

The result of this challenge is the Interactive Pedestrian Walkway. Taking into consideration the pedestrian and vehicular circulation paths through and around the site, the location of educational, religious and community amenities, as well as the prevailing climatic conditions of wind and sun angle, the interactive walkway is the spine from which the residential and community services are suspended.

The Interactive Pedestrian Walkway is richly landscaped, mimicking a ‘wadi’ in its use of planting and water features. There are numerous opportunities to relax along the lighted path and like all good journeys, terminates at a broad and inviting central square.
